I love taking on commissions because they push me somewhere I might not go on my own. Every piece starts as someone else's idea — a favorite pet, a family heirloom, a scene from a memory only they can picture — and that variety keeps my work fresh and my subject matter always changing. Where a self-directed piece begins and ends with me, a commission begins with a conversation, and that back-and-forth is one of my favorite parts of the process.

What I enjoy most, though, is the relationship that builds along the way. Working closely with a client means the finished piece carries their story as much as my hand — it isn't just something I made, it's something we made together. That connection is what turns a painting into a keepsake, and it's why commissioned work holds a special place in my practice. If you have an idea, a memory, or a subject you'd love to see brought to life, I'd love to hear about it.
