What a night. The opening reception for Impressions of Spain brought out a wonderful crowd, and I'm still feeling grateful for everyone who came out to share it with me.
This collection has been the focus of my studio for months — a body of work born from a trip that carried me from the light-soaked galleries of Sorolla's home in Valencia, to the quiet awe of standing before Las Meninas at the Prado, through the medieval streets of Segovia, Toledo, and Ávila, and up to the shoreline of San Sebastián. I came home with a head full of impressions and a real urge to get them onto canvas. These paintings are my attempt to hold on to a little of that light.
I'm thrilled to share that several works found new homes during the opening. To the collectors who welcomed these paintings into their lives — thank you, truly. It means more than I can say. And to everyone who stopped in to talk about the work, share their own Spain stories, or simply be part of the evening: thank you for showing up. Nights like this are why I keep painting.
