Local artist Sean LeCrone is bringing the warmth and soul of Spain to Little Rock with an upcoming exhibition of paintings inspired by a recent journey through the Iberian Peninsula. The collection draws on experiences across some of Spain's most iconic destinations — from the sun-drenched Mediterranean light that defined Joaquín Sorolla's work, which Sean encountered firsthand at a Valencia exhibition, to the grand halls of Madrid's Prado Museum, where standing before Velázquez's masterpiece Las Meninas sparked new ideas about composition and the relationship between artist and subject. The trip also took Sean through the striking architecture of the Guggenheim Bilbao and the timeless cobblestoned streets of medieval cities like Segovia, Toledo, and Ávila — each one a study in texture, history, and atmosphere that found its way onto the canvas. The result is a body of work that captures not just the places, but the feeling of wandering through a country where art and everyday life are inseparable.
